Belgium BOCH Rare Salad Bowl Vintage Flea Market
This is a salad bowl from BOCH, the predecessor to Royal Boch, which is a purveyor to the Belgian royal family.
BOCH items are now only available from private collectors or at antique markets, and large salad bowls like this one are particularly rare finds. This is a vintage piece from the 1960s.
It's perfect not only for salads but also for serving generous portions of stews and braised dishes, or for tossing pasta.
It can also be used to serve chirashizushi (scattered sushi) or vinegared rice for hand-rolled sushi, making it a centerpiece for your table setting.
Purchased at a flea market in Belgium.
The design is from BOCH's Argenteuil series.
Argenteuil is the name of a town in the ?le-de-France region, on the right bank of the Seine River in Paris, France.
Unlike the geometric designs of BOCH's Rambouillet or Nevers series, the pomegranate motif design has a very romantic atmosphere.
Each piece is hand-painted by artisans, giving it a warm feel.
Size:
Diameter approx. 20.5 cm, Height approx. 8.5 cm.
The glaze application and painting may result in variations in color and pattern, appearing darker or lighter in places, which is characteristic of BOCH ceramics.
We hope you will enjoy the unique charm of each piece.
It is in good condition with no chips or cracks. There may be minor cutlery scratches upon close inspection, but none were found during my amateur examination.
We encourage those who can appreciate the charm of vintage items to consider this piece.
We have borrowed the Villeroy & Boch tag.
