Belgian Antique/Vintage Work

A handmade, small round lace doily (just under 11cm in diameter) and coaster with a graceful and soft texture, crafted using bobbin lace and needlework, traditional techniques that the ancient city of Bruges has proudly possessed for ages.

The design alternates between lace woven into threads and densely woven fabric.

If the entire piece is broadly divided into 6 layers, layers 1, 3, and 5 from the inside are thread-like. The spaces created by the sets of four lace threads, two by two, and the lacy quality of the fabric woven with varying tightness and looseness are reminiscent of a temari ball or fireworks, giving a cool impression.

The outer trim has 8 petals. It's a graceful piece that seems to sway gently in the wind, exuding a refreshing feel that makes even slight imperfections endearing.

In my personal floral imagery, it evokes white hollyhock, yellow rose mallow, or white clematis.

The color is a gentle off-white, ivory. The pale greige-ecru piece shown in the foreground of the accompanying photos, which I have also listed, may help you gauge the color.

The texture is very smooth and has a moist feel. The gentle, soft drape is truly delightful to the touch. I believe the material is linen, but it might contain a small amount of cotton.

Please excuse any errors in the amateur measurements below.

Diameter: 10.5-10.7cm
Center portion diameter: 3.8-4cm
Approximately 1g

It has been home-cleaned and ironed at my residence and is clean. It is ready for immediate use.

Thread knots and thread crossings are visible, but they are carefully finished and are beautiful even when viewed from the back, with almost no difference from the front. (The small raised knots on the back are slightly light brown. They are not visible from the front.)

Use it as a tray for jewelry or to display antique objects. Placing it under small antique bisque dolls, ceramic dolls, vases, or cherished photographs will enhance the artwork or photo, adding a subtle touch of elegance and flair.

This is a single piece. Its versatile off-white color blends well with anything, and its small size makes it convenient for placement in limited spaces.

I would be delighted if it brings joy to someone who appreciates it. ✴

The vase with the iris motif, shown in the image, is an antique Daum Nancy piece and is listed under the following title:
