This is a Nakayama stone from the Kato Mine, mined, selected, and processed by Tanaka Stone Industry.
It is from the same mine as the famous Maruka stone.
With consideration for the environment, it is mined entirely by hand, with no heavy machinery used.
Uses: Ideal for sharpening woodworking tools (planes, chisels, etc.) and for the final finishing of Japanese knives.
It is extremely fine-grained, and you will immediately experience the unique sharpening feel of Nakayama as soon as you touch the blade to it.
