Tsukinowa whetstones are mined from the grounds of Tsukinowa Temple, located near Mt. Atago in Kyoto.
Depending on the school of thought, these are whetstones used for the final polishing of swords.
They possess characteristics of both Eastern and Western stones, making them suitable for a wide range of blades.

Due to a disaster several years ago, many cultural assets on the temple grounds were damaged. Currently, with permission from the temple master, we are mining these stones to support their restoration.
