【Limited Special Price】Oohira Natural Whetstone - Special Grade - Top Quality Stone

This is a whetstone from Morihei-san, located in Asakusabashi.
Morihei-san sells whetstones from their own inventory, sourced decades ago, categorized based on quality, shape, and other external factors. This particular item is one of the rare, top-grade Tokkyu (Special Grade) products. It is a perfect piece in all aspects, including its uniform color, lack of streaks, absence of scratches, and excellent stone quality. While its appearance may be understated, its uniform color signifies a consistent quality across the entire sharpening surface, resulting in an even sharpening feel without variations. It can be considered a top-tier item for practical use.

It offers a moist and gentle feel on the blade with a smooth texture. The sharpening sound is pleasant. It achieves an extremely fine finish, capable of removing scratches to a level that is invisible to the naked eye. Among the natural whetstones I have handled, including Ohira, this one ranks among the very best in quality. Its hardness is on the harder side, with a moderate amount of slurry production. However, its exceptional ability to maintain flatness makes it very easy to manage.
This is an item that will undoubtedly satisfy those who prioritize quality.
