70 Recommended for Beginners - Roasted Bamboo, Clear Lacquer Finish, Classical Style 6-Hole, 6-Hole Tuning, Negishi Shinobue Studio
This is made to the same specifications as the Shishida and Maruyama shinobue flutes.
It is also compatible with fingerings that cover the second and third holes from the bottom.
Most beginners can produce low notes, but seem to struggle with high notes or the pee sound. Many are concerned about whether their current flute can produce these notes properly.
This flute was made based on feedback from instructors across the country (easy to produce high notes, clear overtones, and affordable).
For beginners, it is recommended to first buy an affordable flute, and once you can produce high notes and overtones, visit a store and try out flutes to find one that suits you. (Some flutes look good but cannot produce clear overtones.) It is also said that progress is faster if you start lessons once you can produce some notes.
To prioritize ease of playing, resonance, and affordability, there may be scratches, natural shapes, natural patterns, and natural curves.
An image shows a 10mm ball for reference of hole size.
Thickness: Approximately 20.1mm at the mouthpiece.
Length: Approximately 40.8cm.
Mouthpiece opening: Approximately 14mm.
Thickness: Slightly thicker than average.
(Thicker flutes have better low-note resonance, while thinner flutes have better overtone production.)
Wall thickness: 2.1 on a 5-point scale.
(Thicker walls improve overtone production and resonance, while thinner walls make it easier to play.)
Pitch: Approximately 6.5 octaves.
Range: Cleanly produces notes from the fundamental (Ro-on) up to overtone 5.
What is Yakitake (Roasted Bamboo)?
It is the material among shinobue bamboo that produces the best resonance. Roasting bamboo thoroughly inside makes it harder and improves its resonance. However, it is difficult to process due to the scarcity of suitable materials.
Making it naturally also further enhances its resonance. Bamboo grows by competing for sunlight. Therefore, bamboo that wins the competition for light is ideal for flutes. (I have researched the physics of natural principles for many years and can identify bamboo that meets these conditions.)
What is Tou-nuri (Transparent Coating) finish?
Since pigments are not used in the paint, it makes it easier to produce sound. Furthermore, by carving grooves inside and allowing the paint to soak in, it further improves ease of playing and resonance.
Please note:
High notes and overtones are produced very well. When blowing strongly, please ensure there is no one around. Please be especially careful with small children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and those who are not feeling well.
