SL Steam Locomotive - NP10 - Nippo Main Line - D Limited Express Hyuga
1972 Nittō Line Nobeoka Station Limited Express Hyūga
[Hyūga]
This service was established in 1967 as a diesel limited express train operating between Osaka and Miyazaki, evolving from the overnight express train running between Kyoto and Miyakonojō. Initially, it operated coupled with the Limited Express Naha bound for Kagoshima-Chuo via the Kagoshima Main Line.
On October 1, 1973, the Limited Express Naha was converted to an electric train, and Hyūga began operating independently. Furthermore, on April 25, 1974, it became an electric limited express with the introduction of the 481 series electric train. The service was discontinued on March 10, 1975, with the opening of the Shinkansen line between Okayama and Hakata.
Currently, the name is written as Hyūga (ひゅうが), and it is active as a limited express train operating between Nobeoka and Miyazaki, Minami-Miyazaki, and Miyazaki Airport via the Nittō Line, Nichinan Line, and Miyazaki Airport Line.
