Antique Pillivuyt Tureen Pie Dish with Pheasant Lid "trompe l'oeil"
N/A
Vintage French Trompe Loeil Pheasant Terrine - Rustic Porcelain Casserole dish bowl. Manufactured by Pillivut, a french porcelain company established 200 years ago. The sculpted lid is made to look like a baked pastry crust with the entire terrine resembling a "pate en croute". There is a small hole in the lid designed to release steam while cooking. These terrines are highly collectible. The bird on top is a hand-painted pheasant. There is a stamp on the bottom "Pillivuyt France" on the underside. Measures approximately 10" long by 7" tall (with lid) by 6wide. There are two small chips on the inside rim (see photos). These are not visible with the lid on and does not impact the placement or functionality of the lid!
