▼Synopsis
The Chef is a Japanese drama series that aired on the Nippon TV network.
The drama is based on the manga of the same title, serialized in Weekly Manga Goraku, with original story by Kenna Mai and art by Tadashi Kato. However, the setting and story development differ from the original manga, creating a unique narrative.
This led to criticism from the original author in a weekly magazine column, and its unconventional plot became a topic of discussion.
The script was written by Masahiro Yoshimoto and Michiru Egashira, and the theme song was Chase the Chance by Namie Amuro.
This song, Namie Amuro's first drama theme song, became a million-seller hit.
The drama is a culinary drama about the protagonist, a wandering chef named Takumi Aizawa, played by Noriyuki Higashiyama, who cooks for exorbitant fees.
However, because his cooking methods were often impossible in reality, he himself described it as a sci-fi drama of the culinary world.
Furthermore, the protagonist, Takumi Aizawa, donates the rewards he earns from his cooking to the orphanage where he grew up.
Other main characters include the heroine Izumi Kazama, played by Akiho Sendoh, and Taichi Tabe, played by Taichi Kokubun, who becomes Aizawa's apprentice.
