Oshu Sendai Shichifukujin [Fujisaki Ebisu Shrine] Ebisu God Goshuin

Oshu Sendai Shichifukujin - Fujisaki Ebisu Shrine - Ebisu-sama Goshuin

[Details]

Oshu Sendai Shichifukujin is a pilgrimage route of the Seven Lucky Gods, consisting of six temples and one shrine in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. The Seven Lucky Gods enshrined at each temple and shrine have been worshipped since the Edo period or earlier.
The name Oshu Sendai Shichifukujin was given in 1983.

The Ebisu Shrine, located on the rooftop of the Fujisaki Department Store main building, traces its origins to Nishinomiya Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture, which is known nationwide as the god of business prosperity and good fortune. In 1932, to commemorate the major expansion of the new building, Ebisu-sama was officially invited from Nishinomiya Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture to the rooftop.
The Fujisaki store's trade name at its founding in Bunsei 2 (1819) was Ebisuya, making Ebisu-sama the symbol of the store. For approximately 200 years since its founding, Ebisu-sama has been worshipped by many people as their guardian deity.
