* In the Edo period, a part of Sano City was directly governed by the Ii family of the Hikone domain. Due to this connection, friendly city relations were established on August 7, 1969, and this sister city exchange has continued for over 50 years.
* This is a rare Goshuin, as both the Sanomaru Goshuin and the Sanomaru x Hikonyan Collaboration Goshuin use Hikokawa Washi, a traditional handmade Japanese paper from Sano City.
