Fennel is said to be one of the oldest cultivated plants by humans and is also valued for its excellent medicinal properties as a herb.

It is also a versatile vegetable where the leaves, bulb, flowers, and seeds can all be used for food without waste.

I was drawn to this fennel because it is described as a very popular variety in Italy, with a sweet, rich, and aromatic flavor.

The swollen part of the root (bulb) has a texture similar to celery or new onions and can be used in the same way.
For salads, stir-fries, soups, marinades, pickles, etc.

If you leave the roots after harvesting the bulb, it seems to regrow in the spring. (The bulb is best in the first year, and mainly leaves and flowers are used thereafter.)

I heard of a house where it has been planted for 8 years, and I thought it would be wonderful to be able to use it every year!

If you plant a few in a spot that doesn't interfere with your garden, you can enjoy the leaves and flowers every year without much care.
It also seems to spread by self-seeding.

Recipe examples)
?Grilled with olive oil and seasoned with salt. Simple but delicious.
? A salad of fresh, sweet, and spicy fennel leaves with camembert cheese and orange.
? Warm up with fennel soup in winter.
? Make the leaves into a paste and use it like basil sauce for pasta or fish dishes.

The leaves grow well from spring to early summer, and in summer, they bloom with lime-yellow, lace-flower-like blossoms.

It is highly resistant to heat and cold and can be enjoyed every year without much attention, so it requires very little effort.
