Much easier to grow than regular celery ?
An herb with a strong celery flavor ?

Fennel (Romanesco) Image 3 50 seeds

Sowing (approximate): September - October
Harvest (approximate):
Stems/Leaves: April - August Flowers: June - August Seeds: August - September

Prefers sunny, well-draining, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Mix in lime. It's a deep-rooted plant that dislikes transplanting, so direct sow or sow in seedling pots ?
Plant spacing approx. 50cm. Hill up soil with organic fertilizer and stake to prevent lodging ?
It's a close relative of dill and coriander and can cross-pollinate, so avoid intercropping ?
When the stems at the base of the plant reach the size of a golf ball, hill up the soil firmly so that light doesn't reach the base of the plant ?
