Its flavor is similar to Japanese parsley (seri) and Mitsuba, so it can be used in dishes where those herbs are typically used (soups, dressed dishes). It has a slightly more bitter taste than seri and mitsuba.

Swiss chard pairs well with oil; when stir-fried, it becomes slightly sweet and crisp.
It is also recommended to quickly blanch Swiss chard and use it in dressed dishes.
