Lettuce with a crunchy stem, also known as Mountain Lettuce.

Features:
This lettuce is eaten for its thick stem and is also called stem lettuce. The stems grow to about 3-5cm in diameter and around 30cm in length. The outer skin of the stem is peeled before use. Mountain lettuce is made by shredding slightly young stems lengthwise and drying them.

Sowing to Transplanting:
As germination is difficult in summer, germinate in a cool place. Cover seeds thinly with soil. Thin to one plant per spot when the first true leaves appear. Transplant when plants have 3-5 true leaves, with rows spaced 40cm apart and plants spaced 30cm apart.

Field Preparation and Cultivation Management:
Apply 120g of dolomitic lime, 2kg of well-rotted compost, and 120g of organic compound fertilizer per square meter. Apply additional fertilizer based on the plant's growth. Take measures to control aphids.

Harvesting:
The harvest period is when the stems are 25cm or longer and about 4cm thick. After harvesting, remove the lower leaves, peel the stems, blanch them in hot water, and use them with young leaves in salads or stir-fries.
