These are patches made by cutting cowhide into a cross shape.
They also have pre-punched needle holes for hand sewing,
so you can directly hand sew them onto jeans, etc.

Images 4 and 5 show items that have been hand-sewn.
The needle holes may be difficult to see in some areas.
