Natural whetstone, Kyoto origin, mountain unknown. This is a finishing whetstone.
I have lapped the old whetstone myself.
Due to strong layering, the sides and back are heavily reinforced with cashew lacquer.
I don't think it will break immediately, but please be aware.
This is a hard stone, and I believe it is better suited for sharpening edges rather than flattening.
The quality is very good.
As this is a natural stone, there may be veins or inclusions that were not apparent during my test sharpening.
