This is a suita stone quarried alongside the aisa layer.
Its strong abrasive power, characteristic of suita stones, allows for quick semi-finishing.
Tsukinowa whetstones are quarried on the grounds of Tsukinowa Temple, located near Mt. Atago in Kyoto.
Depending on the school of thought, these are the stones used for the final polishing of swords.
They possess the characteristics of both Eastern and Western stones, making them suitable for a wide variety of blades.

Due to a disaster several years ago, many cultural assets on the temple grounds were damaged. Currently, with the permission of the mountain lord, we are quarrying these stones to support the temple's restoration.
