This is an Iyo whetstone from Ehime Prefecture.

Grit: #2000 or higher.
Photos of polishing marks are included. (Polishing marks from artificial whetstones #1000/#2000 are from Jinzo Toshi Hatenmaku)
The polishing method used was to polish SS400 mild steel with an artificial whetstone #1000, then polish for approximately 2 minutes.
Magnification: 120x.
Please note that the stone may have been treated with Natural Whetstone Curing Material Ishisan to prevent cracking. This does not affect sharpening.
We believe that placing this stone between the finishing stone and the main whetstone will result in faster and cleaner finishes.
