Rare Thai Buddha Statue, Retro Flute-Playing Celestial Maiden Figurine, Decorative Object
Large sculpture of a Thai Apsara/Buddha Teppanom musician. Depicts a celestial dancer playing a flute. A piece of traditional Thai art. The circular base shows signs of old craftsmanship. A very beautiful handmade figurine from the 1950s-60s. This is an exquisitely crafted rare item, characterized by its refined details, precision, and beautiful patina from age and use. Apsara refers to a cloud and water goddess appearing in Hindu and Buddhist mythology, meaning celestial nymph or heavenly maiden. Apsaras are beautiful, supernatural beings. They are young, graceful, and excellent dancers. They are often the wives of Gandharvas, the court musicians of Lord Indra. They dance in the palaces of the gods, entertaining and sometimes seducing the gods. Please judge the size from the photos.
