Ultra-rare, highly sought-after item!! Hidden Christian Maria Kannon statue, Kirishitan Nando-gami, Christian Buddhist statue, Gyō, Nagasaki
This is a statue of Maria Kannon, a hidden Christian deity. It is a Nando-gami that was enshrined in the Sotome district of Nagasaki City. The Sotome district, due to its cliff terrain, was isolated from the outside world, and before the Edo period, boats were the only means of transportation. For this reason, it is known for being a place where many hidden Christians hid. It is also designated as a World Heritage site (Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region). This is an excellent Maria Kannon statue that evokes a deep sense of devotion. It is also a piece of extremely high historical value.
