This is the body of a kotsuzumi drum only.
The design is wave and plover *makie* (lacquer decoration), with *raden* (mother-of-pearl inlay) applied to the plovers and water wheels. There is some peeling of the *raden* due to age.
Additionally, the dull-colored plovers and semicircular patterns have thin lead plates applied, with *makie* also applied on top, utilizing the technique seen in the National Treasure Hon'ami Koetsu's Funabashi Makie Suzuribako (writing box).
The receiving end has planing marks.
The weight is 393g.
