89 Excellent Tone Japanese Flute Shinobue Bamboo Flute Classical Style Seven Holes Yonhon Choshi Negishi Shinobue Kobo
This is made to the same specifications as the Shishida and Maruyama shinobue.
This instrument has relatively small finger holes, offering good balance and resonance, with excellent high-pitched notes. It is recommended for囃子 (hayashi) music, especially for high-pitched notes.
As natural materials are used and it is handmade, there may be natural variations in shape, pattern, curvature, and minor scratches.
The volume (which can be quite piercing) and tone quality surpass that of a standard shinobue.
I have been researching physics for a long time and have succeeded in selecting materials that are easy to play and resonate well.
I discovered that only bamboo that meets certain conditions can produce sound from the tube itself.
Thickness: Approximately 21.7 mm near the mouthpiece.
Length: Approximately 48.3 cm.
Mouthpiece size: Approximately 14.5 mm.
Bamboo hardness: Slightly harder than average.
Thickness: Slightly thinner than average.
Pitch: Approximately from 4.5 to 5 (on a scale where 5 is a standard pitch).
Range: Cleanly produces notes from the lowest (tsutsuon) up to the 5th high-pitched note (daikouon 5).
This instrument is made based on the standard fingerings and techniques of general shinobue. Please note that regional variations in special fingerings and high-pitched note techniques may exist. We recommend confirming these in the comments.
What is Wa-fue (Japanese bamboo flute)?
It is a transverse flute that has been made by flute makers in Kyoto since the Heian period and passed down throughout Japan.
The囃子 (hayashi) and Satokagura (Shinto shrine music), which are designated as intangible cultural assets, are originally performed on wa-fue (bamboo flutes). (It is a Japanese-native transverse flute.)
Characteristics:
It is characterized by the presence of nodes in bamboo such as madake and hachiku. It is also called a bamboo flute.
It reached its peak from the mid-Edo period to the Taisho period and spread throughout the country, being used in local囃子 (hayashi) and Satokagura.
However, it declined from the end of the Taisho period to the Showa period. Around this time, Shishida-brand shinobue became widespread throughout the country, and the difficult-to-play and expensive wa-fue seemed to lose out to the shinobue.
The origin of wa-fue (bamboo flute) is in Kyoto, and the origin of shinobue is in Tokyo. (Kyoto's bamboo flute, Edo's shinobue) (Dragon's bamboo flute, Lion's shinobue)
There seem to be only a few wa-fue craftsmen nationwide. (As it is extremely difficult to make, very few craftsmen can play and produce them.)
They appear to be quite expensive (around 50,000 yen).
We strive to produce wa-fue that are as easy to play and resonate well as possible, at an affordable price.
Please note that price reductions are not possible.
