◇About the Artisan◇
We sell handmade shinobue flutes crafted by a father and daughter. The father has been a shinobue instructor in Shimane Prefecture for approximately 25 years and is also a flute maker. We craft our shinobue and kagurabue flutes from female bamboo (shinonome bamboo) harvested from the Shizuma River (formerly Ginzan River), dried for over 3 years.

◇Description◇
A 6-hole key flute is two semitones lower than an 8-hole key flute, placing it in a range closer to the human voice. If a song starts with a '#' symbol in its sheet music, you can smoothly play it by transposing it to C major without needing to use many accidentals.

◇Tuning◇
The flute is tuned to Western scale 440Hz, with the tuner set to the kōon (second octave). This allows for ensemble playing and performance with other instruments.
The flute is tuned to produce notes in the ro-on (first octave), kōon (second octave), and daikōon (third octave) up to the 4th level, controllable by breath strength.
As these are natural bamboo flutes, each one has its own unique characteristics. Those accustomed to flutes from other makers may take some time to master producing the 3rd and 4th daikōon notes on our flutes.

A 20g weight is inserted inside the head joint to ensure stability.
The reflector at the embouchure is made with wood putty to prevent melting even in the summer heat.
