The J48 MK2 is a DI that makes the sound engineer's dream of accurate and dynamic sound a reality. The J48 MK2 is designed to operate on phantom power (48V). It is designed with the understanding that all active direct boxes are essentially preamplifiers. A common problem with many active DIs is that when the instrument's input voltage exceeds the DI's internal operating voltage, it causes square wave distortion. As a result, many active DIs cannot accurately reproduce the wide dynamic range of active basses and acoustic guitars. To solve this problem, the RADIAL J48 is equipped with an internal switching power supply that boosts the internal operating voltage, allowing it to achieve a sound that is faithful to the original source, even with large signals. This enables it to reproduce a wide frequency range from 20Hz to 40kHz accurately, without harmonic distortion, phase anomalies, or internal interference distortion.
■ In addition to the essential direct box features such as a phase reverse switch, 15dB pad switch, and ground lift switch, the RADIAL J48 also features a unique stereo to mono merge switch and a high-pass (80Hz) rumble filter. This allows you to cut unnecessary low frequencies and improve the clarity of mids and highs.
*The 48V confirmation lamp blinks when the LOW CUT button is pressed while connected to phantom power.
