This is the 13th installment in our series of speaker unit supplement books and the 7th installment as a mook. The supplement this time is a paper-coned version of the Mark Audio OM-MF4, a 6cm full-range unit, which was the supplement in the 2020 edition. The OM-MF4 and many other units from the same brand use metal diaphragms. The reason this unit uses a paper diaphragm is to further reduce moving mass. Numerically, it is over 20% lighter than the OM-MF4, further enhancing the fast response that is one of the brand's design philosophies. In addition, mica is mixed into the paper diaphragm to control its physical properties, resulting in excellent high-frequency characteristics. This mica-mixed paper diaphragm is the first mass-produced model for the brand. It boasts a long stroke of 4mm on each side, a high-compliance suspension, a large magnet, and an easy-to-handle 8Ω specification, all inherited from the OM-MF4, expanding the possibilities of small-diameter speakers.
