〈Showa Retro〉Fukubeko Kokeshi Doll - Kinugawa, Tochigi Prefecture - Folk Craft - Tourist Destination - Souvenir
This item was received as a souvenir in the 1950s and has been stored at home.
It is a Fukube Kokeshi Doll souvenir from Kinugawa Onsen, Tochigi Prefecture. The wooden object next to the doll has Meisan Fukube written on it.
Fukube crafts are traditional crafts of Tochigi Prefecture. They are made from the outer skin of the calabash gourd, but it is unclear if this ornament is made in the same way. However, the color suggests it might be, or it could just be a replica. It also feels like it might be made of wood.
Additionally, the larger piece was attached to the tatami-like base, but it has come off. (Please refer to the 4th photo.) It is likely that it can be reattached with glue.
There are other stains and marks. Please understand this. This item is recommended for those who do not mind these imperfections or wish to repair it.
The dimensions are approximately 7.8 cm in height, 10.4 cm in width of the wooden base, and 3.5 cm in depth of the wooden base.
