Description
A traditional Japanese Ichimatsu doll,
decorated with a colorful kimono and obi.

⚫︎ Design: Traditional Japanese Ichimatsu Doll
⚫︎ Hairstyle: Straight black hair
⚫︎ Outfit: Colorful kimono and obi
(The kimono was changed 20 years ago because it had become old. The teacher who changed the kimono reportedly asked to have it multiple times. They said the doll had a beautiful face.)
⚫︎ Decoration: Red obi and a kimono with fine patterns
⚫︎ Case: Comes with a transparent protective case
(The glass has peeled off and the case is warped, but it is from that era. It should clean up nicely with some cleaning.)
⚫︎ 《Grandmother's Story》
November 1938. My father bought it for me in Xinjing, Manchuria, China. We brought it back to Japan with great difficulty, in its case, on a large ship across the Sea of Japan. During the war, the town hall took the French doll. The Ichimatsu doll was hidden in the closet, covered with a thin futon. Young people probably don't know about such things. We were instructed by the town hall to burn things like Kewpie dolls, so we burned them at home. The artist is Kiyohide...? Or Kiyoshi.

It was a little later, but almost the same time. However, because it was less likely to break, I wrapped it in a large furoshiki and hid it in the closet... After the war, I finally displayed it in the tokonoma. During the war, it was considered a luxury item, and even having it at home could be seen as unpatriotic and punishable, so I hid it out of fear. I think few people remember those times.
It might be Nagayoshi. Kiyonobu or Kiyokazu. I called her Ichika-chan. It sounds like a dream, but it's a true story. A tale from long, long ago. I received this email.
⚫︎ I've been thinking about decluttering for a long time and have finally decided to do it.
I'm at my grandmother's house, and due to its age, the work is said to be 60 years old. She says it was quite expensive at the time, but her stories are from after the war, and I find them difficult to understand.
I am listing it at the price my grandmother told me. Those interested are welcome to comment and negotiate the price.

The Ichimatsu doll and the battledore will be given together as a set for display in the tokonoma.

⚫️ Today! To confirm the artist, I bravely removed the kimono and looked at the stomach. It was packed with a lot of cotton batting. After removing it, I found it was tightly wrapped in skin-colored oiled paper. On the second layer of oiled paper, I saw what looked like a signature, so I peeled it off to confirm!
The signature Tokumatsusai was drawn there. After that, I put the kimono back on and returned it to its original state.
