This container is used for serving main sweets during a thick tea ceremony or for Kaiseki cuisine.

Photos 7-18 show the top and bottom of the lid and each tier.
There do not appear to be any noticeable scratches, but there is a small trace on the edge of the bottom tier that looks like it has been repaired. (Shown in the last photo. It's so small you can barely feel it unless you run your finger over it.)

This item was among a set of tea ceremony utensils passed down from my mother, who has retired from tea ceremony due to her age. It has not been unused, but she apparently didn't have many opportunities to use it.
