Hagi Ware Koryo Tea Bowl / Matcha Bowl - White / Grayish Green
31.02 $
Description
This is a tea bowl, believed to be a Korean tea bowl (like the Ido-chawan) which is the root of Hagi ware.
It has been used a few times, but is in good condition with no scratches or stains.
Fine crackles (cracks): The fine crackle pattern running throughout gives it the appearance of Hagi ware or a Korean tea bowl.
Glaze texture: The glaze, ranging from white to light beige and a slightly greenish-gray, creates a warm, earthy feel.
Ido-shaped form: The sturdy base has the form of an Ido-chawan (a type of Korean tea bowl) favored by tea masters.
Hagi ware is characterized by Hagi no Nanabake (Seven transformations of Hagi), where the color changes as tea seeps into the crackles with use. Please enjoy developing its depth through use.
There is a potter's mark on the side, but it is unclear and the artist is unknown. It does not come with a wooden box.
- Color: White and greenish-gray crackled glaze
- Shape: Rounded, pedestal-like shape
- Bottom features: Glaze crackles and mark
- Size: Approx. 7cm x 12cm
- Use: Can be used as a tea ceremony utensil
