Iraho Tea Bowl, inscribed box by Hounsai, 15th generation of Urasenke, excellent condition. Search terms: Goryeo tea bowl, Yi Dynasty tea bowl.
This is an Iro-o tea bowl housed in a box with a calligraphy by Hounsai, the 15th head of the Urasenke school. This is a distinguished piece.
Looking at the tea bowl, the potter's wheel marks are clearly visible on the body, and the glaze has been applied. There are also areas with bright coloration, reminiscent of Gohon (a type of kiln effect), making it a bowl with many points of interest and a fine example. The rim appears to be shaped with a spatula, skillfully adjusted to be uneven. The Himo (a small gap near the foot) on the side of the foot is also an exquisite design element. A wonderful tea bowl! The condition is also excellent.
