This is a powerful, large Tengu mask made of papier-mâché, reminiscent of the Battōmen (ばとうめん) style seen in traditional performing arts and Bugaku (舞楽).

This item is approximately 40-50 years old (Showa period) and boasts a substantial construction and aged patina that cannot be found in modern mass-produced items.

Its sharp gaze, prominently protruding nose, and strong expression are striking. It is a popular design as a lucky charm, traditionally symbolizing warding off evil and misfortune. The contrast of vermilion and black, combined with age-related scuffs and peeling, creates a unique presence.

There are inscriptions on the inside, adding to the charm of this vintage papier-mâché mask.
