Wajima-nuri Five Sages Maki-e Individual Plates Set of 5 with Gold Leaf Maki-e Decoration, includes original box and description.

Elegant Wajima-nuri Lacquerware Individual Plates, Set of 5
Beautiful Gold Leaf Maki-e Decoration

As shown in the images, each of the 5 plates is decorated with a different maki-e design of flowers and plants.

The Five Sages in Wajima-nuri refers to a design motif in Wajima-nuri featuring five types of plants: pine, bamboo, plum, chrysanthemum, and orchid, which are also subjects in literati painting. These motifs are considered auspicious and are expressed on lacquerware such as tiered boxes and individual plates using techniques like maki-e and chinkin (gold-powder inlay).

These are unused items that have been stored at home for many years, so they are in very good condition.
