Description
This is a vermilion lacquer sake cup with an anchor design. It was purchased about 40 years ago at an antique shop in the city. The gold maki-e anchor stands out against the vermilion lacquer. The accompanying box is labeled Anchor Cup, Sake Cup and bears a seal that appears to be the artist's name. The dimensions are approximately 12 cm in height, just under 6 cm in diameter, and approximately 5 cm at the base. There is a slight peeling of gold on the rim, but it has never been used since purchase. It is believed to be related to the Japanese Navy, but details are unknown as there are no inscriptions. The accompanying box has a vintage feel. The base appears darker in the photos, but it is a beautiful vermilion color in person. Please note that we will use recycled materials for shipping packaging.
