The exact era is unknown, but it appears to be an old item.
Made of wood, but the wood is very thin and light. Each cup features finely painted pine, bamboo, and plum designs in gold on the interior.
There is some peeling of the lacquer, yellowing, scuffing due to age, and minor scratches on the large cup, but these are beautiful, calm vermilion sake cups with gold maki-e.
