[Uzbekistan Traditional Representative Craft Embroidery Cloth Suzani - Brown x Light Blue - High Quality]
I recently traveled to Uzbekistan for two weeks and am now listing the traditional and representative crafts I collected.
- Suzani originates from the Persian word Suzan, meaning needle.
- Suzani, an embroidered cloth, has been made by nomadic peoples of Central Asia since around the 17th century.
It is said to have originated in Uzbekistan.
When a girl is born, the women of the entire clan begin sewing it, and it is given as part of her dowry when she marries.
The embroidery is intricate and beautiful, and it has become a representative craft of Uzbekistan.
- Khiva, an oasis city located between the Kyzylkum and Karakum deserts in western Uzbekistan.
The inner city, surrounded by walls 8-10 meters high, is called Ichan-Kala.
It is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site as an open-air museum city.
- I purchased this within Ichan-Kala.
It is embroidered with silk on cotton fabric.
I chose this particular piece for its rare color combination of brown x light blue.
- There are no noticeable scratches or stains, but as this is a traditional craft purchased from a bazaar or souvenir shop, please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about minor details or are sensitive.
- Size: Approximately 100cm (height and width)
(Also shown in the photos)
- It was a safe and wonderful country, much like Japan.
I definitely want to visit again.
- I hope someone interested in Uzbekistan will purchase this.
Thank you.
