Description
Up for offer here is an antique, early 20th century, 1920s, 10 x 12, or 120 block patchwork Menswear Wool Scrap Quilt, with yarn-dyed cotton ticking stripe in soft grey, natural white, and faint red/rose lines, neatly bound along the edge. All hand sewn. Constructed from heavy, repurposed menswear suiting scraps, including mixed wool tweeds, heathered weaves, houndstooth, and warm tan/khaki brushed wools. A striking folk art detail features two offset indigo/purple-blue wool blocks placed near the center, creating a bold, intentional visual contrast. The entire piece is secured with diagonal running stitches done by hand in heavy light color cotton yard thread, giving it rich texture and authentic puckering. Primitive Folk Art Appalachian or African American utilitarian quilt style. Very good antique pre-owned condition. Areas of loss at corners and a stain, see photos. Measures approximately 58 x 75.5
