This is an antique portable altar made in the USA. It is a Catholic religious item, manufactured in 1897. The product contents are as shown in the photos. As this is a product over 130 years old, there are signs of use, age-related deterioration, etc. The metal parts are silver-plated.

Product Overview (quoted from a search site): Homan Silver Plate Company, Sick Call Set, circa 1897. Used by priests, doctors, and families. Wooden cabinet with gold or brown velvet interior. Made of quarter-sawn oak. When the doors are opened, there is a silver crucifix with candlesticks, a silver plate, and a silver-rimmed spoon cup. These items were used by priests when visiting the sick or dying. The plate is engraved with I.H.S. and laurel leaves. All items are stamped with Sick Call Set, Special Metal.
