Early 20th Century Antique Decanter, Cut Glass, Lacquer Joint Repair
Purchased from an antique shop, this is a cut glass decanter.
A cut glass decanter for liqueur/spirits, believed to be European from the early 20th century.
It has been repaired in Japan using a technique similar to lacquer, creating a piece where Western and Japanese aesthetics intersect.
The sides feature three-dimensional and substantial cuts, while the base has star-shaped radial cuts, giving it the presence typical of tableware from that era.
It also has an atmospheric presence as a decorative or display item.
There is a crack on the mouth, with visible repair marks joined by a lacquer-like material.
It has a charm reminiscent of Kintsugi, and is recommended for those who can appreciate the character born from its imperfect state.
Please check the photos carefully for the condition. Purchase only if you understand antique items.
