Vintage Matsushita Electric Mood Cufflinks Thermochromic Panasonic Japan 70s

Up for sale is a highly unique piece of vintage Japanese technology history combined with classic 1970s novelty flair: a pair of Matsushita Electric Works Thermochromic Cufflinks. The Details: The History: The Japanese characters on the back read 松下電工友の会 (Matsushita Denkō Tomo no Kai), which translates to the Matsushita Electric Works Friendship Association. Matsushita was the parent company of the global electronics giant we know today as Panasonic. These were likely given as a special commemorative gift to employees or club members. The Design: The gold-tone insignia on the front resembles the cross-section of an electric motor stator or gear—a perfect nod to the company's industrial roots. The Magic: The center of each cufflink features thermochromic liquid crystals—the exact same technology used in vintage mood rings. When resting, they appear dark. When exposed to the warmth of your wrist, they transition through beautiful shades of amber and vibrant green! Condition Notes: These cufflinks are in great vintage condition and the color-shifting feature is fully reactive and working. There is some minor surface wear to the gold-tone finish typical of vintage jewelry. Please note: This listing is for the cufflinks only; no original box is included. Please review all photos closely as they are part of the description, and feel free to reach out with any questions before purchasing.
