Precision Bass, James Jamerson style mod, equipped with La Bella strings

This is a house brand (PB) in the Mel Walken budget class (build quality feels comparable to Japanese Bill Lawrence or Fernandes). I modified it for home playing, demo recording, and open mic sessions because I liked the sunburst color and the sturdy-looking neck with flame figuring.

As a big fan of James Jamerson and Duck Dunn, I've recreated their groovy vintage tone with a woody feel and satisfying ghost notes by installing La Bella flatwound heavy gauge strings, a sponge mute on the bridge, and a shim in the neck to raise the bridge saddles.
The strings I'm using are La Bella's Olinto series. They are fundamentally similar to the old-fashioned Deep Talkin' strings, but the A string is thinner than the DT, reducing stress on the neck and solving the common issue with passive vintage-style basses where the sound overloads and cracks/distorts on the 3rd string. La Bella also started making their own vintage PB-style basses, and they officially announced and released these strings, stating that this gauge is best for modern guitar necks.
The set is 047-068-080-107.
It feels great to play with a technique like Motown or Stax, where you pluck with just one finger. They've been on for about a year, but I only play occasionally, so the strings are in good condition.

I replaced the pots with CTS 250k and the jack with Switchcraft, rewired to a '62 specification, and used some Gavitt vintage wiring.
Octave adjustment and truss rod adjustment have been done. Fret beveling has also been completed.
Due to the extremely thick strings and the Jamerson-style setup with a slight forward bow, the string height is set high to produce a percussive sound similar to an upright bass. However, there is still remaining truss rod adjustment and the bridge saddles can be lowered further (see image 15). The current string height at the 12th fret is approximately 2.8mm for both the E and G strings.
It's set up in an old-school style that sinks deeply.
Playing My Girl or Dock of the Bay with this setup is fantastic!

Perhaps due to the quality of the string material and manufacturing, the touch is soft and doesn't fatigue the fingers, contrary to what the gauge might suggest.

Accessories include leftover La Bella strings (I bought a set for a 5-string bass), a Fender strap, and a soft case.
