VTG Estate Swank Gold Tone Art Deco Geometric Tie Clip Chain Bar Pat 1865995
SWANK
This piece is a classic 1930s Mid-Century Swank Tie Bar & Chain Clip specifically designed as a cravat/tie holder. The patent stamp on the back—SWANK NO. 1865995 OTHER PAT PEND—refers to a patent granted in July 1932 (filed in late 1931) for a cravat holder designed by Amsy L. Wurster. It dates back to 1930s – Early 1940s (Art Deco / Mid-Century). This is designed as a wire tie bar and has a central diamond/rhombus cutout geometric element and attached coiled link drop chain. Gold-tone / Gold-plated base metal. The clip grips the shirt placket behind the tie, and the flexible chain hangs in front to hold the tie neatly in place. The attached chain is a link type with a very pretty design. This piece measures approximately 2.125 across. See pictures. It is in very nice vintage condition. This is an estate item.
