Design Elements The face of this heavy-relief round metal buckle showcases iconic historical and regional symbols: The Coat of Arms of Michigan: The central relief elements directly mirror the Michigan State Seal, featuring an elk on the left and a moose on the right framing a central shield with a rising sun and a man waving on a peninsula. The American Eagle: An eagle clutches arrows and an olive branch perched at the top center of the main layout, symbolizing defense and peace. Historical Statehood Date: High-relief lettering reads MICHIGAN along the top border, with Jan. 26, 1837 embossed at the bottom—marking the exact date Michigan officially entered the Union as the 26th U.S. state.
