Karl Hofner Viola (40cm) with Case, No Bow
198.00 $
Description
Viola from the workshop of Karl Höfner in Bubenreuth, Germany. Serial No. 296156.
Purchased about 25 years ago at a string instrument specialty store in Tokyo (purchase price around ¥100,000).
The varnish is a matte type.
There are small scratches on the body (photo 4), but they do not affect playing at all.
The bridge is vertical, and the soundpost is in the correct position.
It has rarely been taken out, so the case is still in good usable condition.
The KUN shoulder rest is a bonus.
Used for a few years as a secondary instrument when switching from violin, but after purchasing a new instrument, it was kept at home as a spare.
Upon listing, I tried it with Obligato strings (used) and obtained good sound quality.
The size is 40cm, so I believe it can be sufficiently used as a first instrument for beginners or those interested in the viola.
