Japanese Moriage Dragonware salt and pepper shaker set.
Japanese Moriage
vintage pair of Japanese Moriage Dragonware salt and pepper shakers, dating from the early to mid-20th century (circa 1920s–1950s). These pieces feature Moriage (pronounced mo-ree-ah-gay), a traditional Japanese ceramic technique where liquid clay (slip) is piped onto the surface to create a distinct 3D, raised texture. They showcase detailed three-dimensional celestial dragons wrapping around a distinctive burnt-orange or matte terra-cotta slip-glaze background. One is missing a stopper. Souvenir from Catalina.
