Rare vintage Chinese mask necklace. Hand carved stone, ceramic and beaded necklace. This features a natural stone center pendant in a traditional Chinese fu manchu mask. The beads going up the leather cord are carved wood and ceramic with fu (foo) dogs on each side. The fu dogs are sitting lions or Chinese guardian lions also known as shishi. They symbolize protection, power, and prosperity. Most often they are placed in pairs across from each other like this necklace. Often used in Buddhism and Chinese folklore.
