Founded in 1871 by brothers Homer and Shakespeare Laughlin in East Liverpool, Ohio, the company set out to create high-quality white dinnerware that could directly compete with fine European imports. The Dover Shape: The specific geometric, octagonal dishes featured in the image belong to the company’s Dover blank line, which was heavily produced from the late 1960s through the early 1980s. It was utilized for various folk art decals—like Bayberry—as well as solid earth-tone glazes reflecting mid-century design trends.
