WWII US Navy Officer's Mess Silverplate Flatware 6pc Kings Design USN 1940s
N/A
Up for sale is a beautiful, historically accurate 6-piece lot of U.S. Navy wardroom officers' flatware in the iconic and ornate King's Design. These pieces are military emergency procurement contract items manufactured during the 1940s. Lot Breakdown & Dimensions 5 Lunch/Salad Forks - Measure 7.25 inches long 1 Teaspoon - Measures 6 inches long Historical Marking & Authentication Details Reverse Side: All six pieces feature a crisp, clean U.S.N. property block font stamp on the back of the handle tip. No Maker Marks: Many original WWII U.S. military contract flatware pieces were intentionally produced without commercial manufacturer hallmarks. Government contract specifications often required a uniform appearance and omitted commercial branding, making unmarked USN flatware a recognized characteristic of many wartime-issued pieces. Front Side: The five forks feature the factory-struck vintage U.S. Navy fouled anchor emblem nested inside the lower scrollwork frame. The 6-inch teaspoon is smooth in this area, which is historically correct for this specific utensil pattern and helped prevent crowding of the die stamp. Condition The pieces are in very good vintage condition with surface scratches, utensil marks, and age-related wear consistent with military service and decades of use. The USN markings remain visible. One fork and the teaspoon show heavier cosmetic wear than the others. Please review all photos for the complete condition of each piece.
