How To Spot A Fake McQueen Skull Scarf

There are some key differences to look out for when purchasing a silk McQueen skull scarf.   Overall quality and tactile feel is the first one.  The fake scarf in my images feels sheer and slippery like polyester...because it IS polyester.  It also looks cheap--you may notice loose threads, crooked images, or fraying fabric.  McQueen silk skull scarves retail for $300-$500.  You can expect quality and attention to detail when you're paying those prices.   Hemming is another big giveaway--a straight flat hem that was clearly stitched on a machine is a dead giveaway for a fake.    The McQueen tags and logos have evolved over the years, so there are many authentic variations out there.   But generally speaking, the tag itself will be of quality, and stitched gently onto the scarf with a few key stitches that won't damage the delicate silk and are easily removed if the wearer chooses.    A secondhand scarf not having a brand tag is not necessarily indicative of a fake.  Many people remove the tags from their scarves.
