【Direct Pickup Only】Karl Höfner Double Bass (4/4)

This is a listing for an old, 4/4 size Karl Höfner double bass from overseas.
The label reads Garmany 8473, and while the manufacturing year is unknown, the four-digit serial number suggests it is quite old.
There is significant damage to the neck and the right side of the top plate, possibly from a fall, and many repaired areas are visible. In particular, the repair in the center of the neck, which involved embedding wood screws to correct a separation between the neck and fingerboard, was not done by a professional workshop. It has since been removed and replaced with a wooden plug by a workshop (Photo 16). Other repairs to the neck are also not perfect; seams have been polished and cleaned to a degree that does not impede playing.
Furthermore, the height of the bridge and nut felt difficult to play, so both have been adjusted, and the soundpost position has also been adjusted.
The tailcord has been replaced with a Kevlar one, and the strings have been changed to used Belcanto strings.

This is a double bass with a solid top (back and sides are likely plywood), but it is a 4/4 size, larger than a standard Höfner, with a string length of about 110cm. It is therefore considered suitable for use in orchestras or as a backup instrument for amateur orchestras. Due to its large size, it produces a loud and resonant sound.
A 4/4 size soft case (used, manufacturer unknown, black) is included. (Please note that it will not fit in a 3/4 size case.)

We cannot arrange for delivery by a shipping company, so please arrange for pickup at my home in eastern Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture, or in western Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. Pre-trial playing is also possible. If you wish to try it out in Osaki City, there will be a venue rental fee of 500 yen per person (plus the number of accompanying persons if applicable).
For locations within Yamagata Prefecture or nearby prefectures not too far away (e.g., south of Akita City, Akita Prefecture; north of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; north of Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture), we can deliver to a designated location near you for the actual cost of fuel, etc. If it is along the Tohoku Shinkansen line, we can deliver to a nearby Shinkansen station for the actual transportation cost. (We can also accommodate pickup in Tokyo, such as at Ueno Station.)
